Comic Art Guide

CAG would like to welcome you to the world of original comic book art!  However your interest was born, if you are a fan of the unique story telling perspective presented in sequential art stepping into the hobby is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, art on your wall and a hit on your bank account.

In this series of articles CAG aims to educate new collectors and hopefully offer a new perspective for hobby veterans on this wonderful world of original comic art.  Although each article is a separate topic, I think most, especially those new to the hobby, will benefit from reading the series in chronological order.

If you are already active in the hobby Comic Art Guide would like to say sorry for feeding the addiction! Many active collectors in the hobby know how much of a never ending quest OA can be once you take the dive in.  From following your favorite creators twitter accounts on a hourly basis to anxiously waiting for the next major auction to get started many collectors become consumed with the hobby, actively pursuing the next purchase, striking a deal, anxiously waiting as the piece makes its way through shipping, to that moment the box is opened and every ink line, stray pencil mark and word balloon can be meticulously analyzed and appreciated.

If you are new to this hobby welcome! There is a lot to learn about it and CAG hopes to make it MUCH easier for a beginner to feel comfortable getting started in this hobby. If CAG can even create one new collector it will have done its job. Many shy away from the hobby as they try to learn all the nuances it has. The learning curve in this hobby can sometimes be sharp, and is oftentimes expensive for collectors who dive into the deep end without learning to tread water first.

Whether you’re a seasoned collector or completely unfamiliar with original art collecting I think you will enjoy this series of articles.
